Dress your way through the Christmas party season
Christmas party season is fast approaching, we’re receiving invites from friends, family and colleagues and yet again we’re struggling on that all important thing: what are we going to wear? At The Diamond Store HQ we’ve wrapped up our four favourite looks that will have you looking fabulous this festive period.
LBD – the fail safe option
In today’s era of cutting edge fashion, many people forget about the fail safe Little Black Dress. In 1926, “Vogue” declared that the little black dress is the “uniform for all women of taste’’ and we think it’s a classic option. There are many different options including the micro-mini or knee-length, full-skirt or curve hugging, or get one in lace, silk, or taffeta. There are millions of options when it comes to the shape and style of your little black dress. The best thing of all is that the dress can be enhanced with jewellery to create an individual style. Try a full collared diamond necklace for a shoulder-less dress or try teaming with bright stones for a colour pop which you can match your lipstick, shoes and clutch with!
Sparkles, Sparkles and more Sparkles
Nothing screams Christmas like a dress full of sparkles. Take any dress, any shape, cut or size; add some sequins and it is instantly transformed into something extra special. A sequined dress adds glamour and sparkle to any occasion. The key to looking chic rather than cheap is to keep the styling simple and not overload the sparkle. Try bead or sequin lined neck lines, or fully embellished dressed in muted tones.Embellished skirts also look beautiful teamed with a simple cami or bodysuit. The key to teaming jewellery with sparkle is to stick to a plain pair of stud earrings. If the lower half of the outfit is embellished and the top is plain, add a statement necklace to tie the outfit together. Team a bright red lip and side swept waves for Hollywood glamour.
For an updated spin on ‘black tie’ or if you’re looking for something smart and stylish but not too ‘OTT’ for the office party then sophisticated tailoring is for you. If you are brave enough, opt for a masculine, two piece suit, teamed with a pointed court and statement lip for that feminine touch. For a more feminine take on the look try teaming a tailored skirt with a silk and lace cami.
It doesn’t always have to be your legs or your chest that attracts attention when you want to show a little skin! This year, cut-out dresses have gained popularity on the catwalk including Carven and Stella McCartney. Celebrities have been gracing the red carpets in their cut-out dresses, but you don’t need abs like Gwyneth Paltrow to work this trend. Try dresses that are cut out at the sides, on the chest or even try a two piece that flashes just a glimpse of tummy.
